Youth Dancers
Our 3-Month Private Ballet Program offers personalized one-on-one instruction tailored to each dancer's goals and experience level. Whether building a strong technical foundation, preparing for auditions or competitions, or refining specific skills, students receive individualized coaching through the Vaganova Method to accelerate progress, build confidence, and reach their fullest potential.
ages 7–8 · Youth Dancers
Students will learn fundamental concepts of classical ballet, ballet terminology, and proper ballet technique, studying exercises both at the barre and in the center. Every class begins with floor stretching and strengthening exercises. Placement is the most important skill taught at this level. Students learn basic feet and arm positions and begin working with musical phrasing. Repetition is used to increase strength, flexibility, and coordination. Students also gain an appreciation for ballet as an art form and learn to express themselves through movement to classical music.
ages 9–11 · Youth Dancers
A structured ballet program focused on the proper study of body, leg, arm, and head positions; the initial study of jumps and pre-pointe movements; mastering elementary skills in movement coordination and expressiveness; and an introduction to technique. The goal is to help students achieve proper fundamental ballet skills while learning self-discipline, focus, and the ability to work cooperatively with others. This level is where professional training begins — whether or not a student chooses dance as a career, the foundation of proper ballet skills stays with them for life. The curriculum emphasizes strength, flexibility, balance, rhythm, musicality, and coordination, building dance vocabulary and memory for steps and combinations in preparation for more advanced training.
ages 5–6 · Youth Dancers
Children are accepted into Pre-Ballet from age three to six. The emphasis in these classes is on musicality, creativity, coordination, and building a love of dance, preparing the child well for the time when he or she is physically and mentally at the age to begin formal training.
ages 4–18 · Nutcracker
Step into a time filled with sweet dreams and Christmas magic. California Ballet Theater and Pryntsev Ballet Academy's production of The Nutcracker is a family tradition perfect for all ages, set to Tchaikovsky's timeless score. Every December our dancers step onto a professional stage, in full costume, before a live audience. All roles are open by audition, and enrollment at Pryntsev Ballet Academy is not required to participate — dancers from other schools are welcome. Audition & registration fee: $30 — covers all auditions if attending more than one. Pre-registration encouraged. Please arrive at least 30 minutes before your scheduled time for check-in and warm-up, and tell the front desk if you are participating in more than one audition. Every dancer who auditions is cast in the production. Roles are assigned by the artistic staff based on readiness and the needs of the ballet. Rehearsals run weekly from October through the performance, with additional rehearsals in the final weeks; the full schedule is given at casting. A participation fee and costume rental apply — details are provided at casting.
Our Story Pryntsev Ballet Academy was founded in 2020 by Ivan Pryntsev, a professional ballet dancer and educator with a vision to bring authentic Vaganova-based ballet training to South Orange County. What began as a school dedicated to building strong technical foundations and artistic excellence has grown into something much greater—a welcoming community where students of every age and aspiration can discover the transformative power of dance. Built on the internationally respected Vaganova Method, our programs provide a clear pathway from recreational classes to pre-professional training. Whether a student is taking their very first class, dancing for enjoyment, or pursuing a professional career, every journey is guided with the same commitment to excellence, discipline, artistry, and care. Over the years, our students have earned placements, scholarships, and invitations to some of the world's most respected ballet institutions, including the Youth America Grand Prix (YAGP), Paris Opera Ballet School, The Royal Ballet School, and the Vaganova Ballet Academy Summer Intensive. These achievements reflect not only exceptional training, but also the dedication of our students, families, and faculty. As our academy continued to grow, so did our vision. We realized that while excellence would always remain at the heart of PBA, dance itself should never be limited to only those pursuing a professional career. Today, our purpose is simple: Dance for Every Age. Every Goal. Every Dream. We believe dance is for everyone. Every child deserves the opportunity to build confidence through movement. Every teenager deserves a place to grow and express themselves. Every adult deserves the chance to discover—or rediscover—the joy of dance. At Pryntsev Ballet Academy, we are more than a dance school. We are a community built on passion, discipline, kindness, and lifelong learning. Every class, every performance, and every student becomes part of a story that continues to grow with each new season. The love of dance begins here.
